Leicester are at risk of losing many of their top players this summer.
Wilfred Ndidi has been linked with a move away from Leicester City this summer, with Manchester United and Everton reportedly keen on the Nigerian.
It was a little bit of a surprise when Ndidi, whose contract was up last summer, agreed fresh terms following the club's promotion back to the Premier League. But he chose to stick around with the club that he has represented since January 2017.
Now, following Leicester's relegation to the second tier, he is back to being a Championship footballer.
O
pportunities have seemingly popped up for the former £15 million man, as Man United and Everton are interested in signing him this summer, according to talkSPORT.
A summer move away from the King Power Stadium for Ndidi is inevitable, according to Lee Hendrie.
The Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Football League World that he expects the Nigerian international to move on from the Foxes.
"It was only a few seasons back where we were really highlighting how important Wilfred Ndidi was for Leicester and what he did and brought to that Leicester side," said Hendrie.
"I think he's played in different roles over the last couple of seasons where he's been able to play a little bit more advanced. So he showed that he's got the versatility of sitting and going and joining in, where he can be a force. He's a big physical man.
"And obviously he's being linked with the likes of Everton and Manchester United, but I do feel, and I will say this: teams that get relegated, unfortunately, you're bigger players, your key players, your more influential players will always get linked away. That's the disappointment for Leicester.
"But, yes, I still think there's a lot more to come from Wilf Ndidi because I don't feel that he matched the heights of what he was a good few seasons back where he was highly regarded. But he's a versatile midfielder and there's no surprise that clubs are looking at him."
Bilal El Khanouss is another player of Leicester's being linked with a major move this summer. Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly considering him as a Florian Wirtz replacement following his nine-figure move to Liverpool. The Moroccan is also being targeted by Wolves, according to FLW's sister publication GiveMeSport.
Scenarios like this are always going to play out when a team gets relegated. Leicester are in a vulnerable position on their way down from the Premier League. Football is a dog-eat-dog world, and you would be foolish, as a club, to turn down an easy opportunity to benefit yourself at the expense of someone else. That's exactly what Man United and Everton will see in Ndidi.
The Nigerian still has a couple of years left on his deal, which gives them some extra strength in negotiations, but they still may have to bow down to the financial might of those in the leagues above them.
