Liverpool's former youngster is now a free agent.

Rhian Brewster is currently without a club for the upcoming season, but there is bound to be interest in him.

The former Sheffield United attacker played an increasingly important role later in the season for Chris Wilder, starting the play-off final against Sunderland after a troubled spell with the club.

Nearly five years after moving to Bramall Lane from Liverpool for £23.5 million, his contract with the Blades expired following that fateful game at Wembley.

He was offered a new contract by the club, but he is yet to accept it, and the new boss Ruben Selles has said that he is not expecting Brewster to be part of his team next season.

Rhian Brewster should find a home in the Championship

His Premier League pedigree is sure to get a lot of clubs in the second tier interested in him. Lee Hendrie expects that the 25-year-old won't be short of options now that he's a free agent.

"I think he was just finding his feet again," the Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Football League World. "I think he's had lots of injuries in the past where he hasn't just been able to find a rhythm and a flow and I've seen lots of improvement in him.

"I think most EFL sides would be looking to snap him up. I'd be very surprised if they didn't if he is set to leave on a free. You look at any of the sort of top-middle clubs in the Champ[ionship], you do feel that there's no way that they wouldn't be looking at taking a punt on him. I'd say that's quite likely.

"I do feel that he found his fitness. He felt he looked like he was a lot stronger, and I felt that he did play a key part last season.

"He can play in a number of positions also. that ticks a box. He can play it wide and he certainly can play through the middle, but, you know, I'd be very surprised if one of the Championship clubs don't try and snap him up."

Rhian Brewster could face one issue with remaining in the Championship

What may hold back Brewster from finding a new club, at least initially, is his wages. Last season, Capology estimated that the Blades' attacker earned £35,000 per week, way above the league's suspected average of just over £11,000 per week.

Not many clubs will be able to afford to pay players that sort of money, so Brewster may need to drop his wage expectations if he wants to remain in this country. A solution to that may be a move abroad, as many English players are now starting to look at as a viable option.
