EFL expert Don Goodman spoke exclusively to Football League World about Tyrhys Dolan and other Blackburn Rovers players attractin interest this summer

It has been a season of two-halves for Blackburn Rovers, who were competing for play-off contention under John Eustace but have seen their fortunes nosedive following his departure to Championship rivals Derby County and the subsequent appointment of Valerien Ismael.

The Frenchman, who arrived at Ewood Park at the end of February, had to wait eight games into his tenure to clinch victory for the first time in the Rovers dugout, a slender 1-0 win away to relegation-threatened Luton Town last weekend.

Pressure is already growing on Ismael, and he will have one eye firmly on the summer transfer window as he bids to bolster the squad and prove himself to be a worthy successor to Eustace.

There is the question of whether Blackburn will see any prized assets lured away from Lancashire this summer - or, for that matter, if Ismael even has any real assets at his disposal right now. Blackburn have profited greatly from player sales in years gone by, with the likes of Adam Wharton, Adam Armstrong and Sammie Szmodics all returning significant fees.

However, Blackburn may not have any huge assets to leverage in this summer's window, where funds will be anticipated to be typically-tight under the club's controversial owners, the Venky's.

Don Goodman reacts to Blackburn Rovers transfer exit question

Football League World asked Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman who he predicts could attract the most transfer interest at Blackburn this summer.

Goodman, however, has speculated whether there will be too many players in Ismael's side earning admirers elsewhere. He noted Tyrhys Dolan, who is poised to depart in the summer, but described how the talented winger always leaves him "wanting more".

"Obviously their form has nosedived since John Eustace left," Goodman explained when speaking exclusively with FLW.

"You look at the players in the squad and you say 'well, are any of them good enough for the Premier League?' No, probably not.

"Which ones would attract interest from ambitious Championship clubs? It's a tough one. Obviously Tyrhys Dolan, but he's a player I always feel leaves you wanting more.

"Todd Cantwell has been a creative spark, [Yuki] Ohashi and Makhtar Gueye are new and will probably do even better next season. So there's not an obvious one from Blackburn Rovers who big clubs will genuinely harbour a huge interest in."

Tyrhys Dolan's Blackburn Rovers contract situation

The aforementioned Dolan is increasingly likely to leave Blackburn as a free agent once his contract expires at the end of June. It's said that the 23-year-old, who has spoken of his intent to play at the highest level, will assess his options after the season ends, but is likely to move on.

Due to Dolan's age, Blackburn will be in line to receive compensation if he does indeed depart the club. It will be interesting to see where exactly he could potentially end up next, with Eustace's Derby side a potential option.

It would be no surprise to see a fair number of second-tier sides plot moves for Dolan, who, still aged just 23, has chalked up a vast array of experience and is one of the more senior players at Blackburn. The drawback with Dolan, however, is his inconsistency.

The speedy winger notched five goals and four assists from 36 appearances last term and has tended to blow hot and cold throughout his Rovers career. That lack of consistency may just be the reason why he has remained at Blackburn for so long.
