The Tigers are thought to have a positive relationship with the Villains in their pursuit of Louie Barry.
Hull City are believed to hold a strong relationship with Aston Villa as discussions continue over a permanent move for Louie Barry.
The Tigers are interested in bringing the 22-year-old former Barcelona starlet back to the MKM Stadium on a full-time basis, who only made four appearances in East Yorkshire before having his campaign ended by a serious knee injury.
Hull evidently still see potential in Barry, who netted 15 times for Stockport County in the first half of last season, believing that he can hit the ground running in the Championship with a consistent run of game time.
Hull are eager to ramp up their summer activity after recently appointing Sergej Jakirović over two weeks ago and signing the likes of Reda Laalaoui, Dillion Phillips and Semi Ajayi.
As the club aims to bolster its frontline heading into the 2025-26 campaign, Hull’s relationship with Aston Villa over a move for Barry has been outlined, with it standing the Tigers in good stead to secure a deal given Villa’s ongoing PSR complaints.
As per a report by the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City are in talks with Aston Villa over a permanent move for Louie Barry, with the Tigers believed to have a strong relationship with the top-flight outfit.
Villa are understood to be open to selling the forward, but Barry is one of three options Hull have on the table to swoop for, with a permanent and loan alternative being considered.
Hull’s positive engagement with Villa could be crucial to landing Barry, given the Villans need to bring in revenue ahead of submitting their accounts before Monday’s deadline to avoid breaking PSR rules.
Barry is rumoured to be a priority sell to Villa along with Kaine Kesler-Hayden, so a deal could develop quickly with Unai Emery’s men in a rush to make a cut to their wage bill.
It’s certainly a positive situation for Hull City to be in right now, who should be at the front of the queue to land Louie Barry on a permanent basis.
Villa’s desperate requirement to raise funds could well ensure that the Tigers land the frontman on a cheaper deal, while the West Midlands club will be eager to make something happen with the Yorkshire outfit given their healthy relationship during discussions.
Barry, of course, will be eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a marksman in the Championship after a tough first spell at the MKM Stadium, and may be tempted by a return after getting to know many of the playing squad during his original loan stint.
At only 22, Barry has the potential to transition into a second tier superstar, and it would certainly help get Hull up the table next term if a breakthrough can be found in talks.
