Valon Behrami has offered a damning assessment of a notable fall from grace suffered by Inter Milan talisman Lautaro Martinez.

During his latest talk with FCInterNews, Behrami reviewed Inter’s performance against Como.

Simone Inzaghi’s charges saw off the Serie A newcomers 2-0 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza earlier this week.

Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram scored beyond halftime to extend Inter’s winning league run to four matches.

However, the hosts’ overall performance flattered to deceive.

“Inter was very much in management mode, never increasing the tempo,” Behrami said.

“It’s not easy because it’s hard to get energized against teams from the bottom half of the table.

“They did the job they needed to do but nothing more.

“For the ‘smaller’ team, it’s the worst feeling because you do your best, and the opponents do the same with minimal effort.”

Despite taking their league tally to 42 goals this season, Inter couldn’t rely on Martinez’s contribution.

El Toro has been up the creek without a paddle this term.

Valon Behrami Doesn’t Believe Lautaro Martinez Will Turn His Fortunes Around

“He’ll score under 15 goals this year; the top scorer in Serie A will be the Atalanta striker,” Behrami was adamant.

Though he slammed the Argentine superstar, Behrami sees Inter as genuine contenders for multiple trophies.

“Let’s consider Inter among the top four in Europe, so the obligation is to aim to win competitions,” he added.

“Either this year, or it will be hard to repeat, due to various situations that will arise at Inter, including the need to sell.

“They were lucky with Onana because they made a great profit.

“Inter, from a financial projection standpoint, will change a bit.

“They have players like Bastoni, Thuram, Lautaro, and they need a big income.”

Behrami shared the dressing room with Yann Sommer during their international careers.

Therefore, he’s qualified to share an opinion on the Swiss star’s quality.

“He’s a key factor. In Inter’s slow buildup against Como, he was always the extra man.

“He’s always been like this, and if you use this approach to draw out Como, you need to seek him out even more.

“Switzerland is really struggling now because they no longer have Sommer.

“In matches like this, having a player like him becomes a crucial factor.”
