Former striker Felipe Caicedo says that Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi “lives football like no one else.”
Caicedo gave his thoughts to Italian outlet FanPage, via FCInterNews. He also hit out at Juventus, accusing the Bianconeri of “influencing the referees.”
Former striker Feliped Caicedo technically worked with Simone Inzaghi at two different clubs.
The Ecuadorian joined Inter in January of 2022.
It was just half a season at the Nerazzurri for Caicedo. He barely featured, as he had only been signed as emergency injury cover.
However, the fact that Inter had turned to Caicedo for that role was evidence of the working relationship that he had already had with coach Simone Inzaghi.
The pair had four successful seasons together at Lazio. He was at his most prolific in the Italian capital, where he slotted in well into Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system.
Felipe Caicedo saw Inzaghi’s methods up close and personal for several years.
And the former striker said that “Simone lives football like no one else.”
“He knows more about tactics than any of the other coaches that I’ve had.”
“By playing simple football, he gets you feeling good,” Caicedo said of the current Inter and former Lazio coach. “He makes you feel important.”
“That’s the most difficult thing in football today.”
Caicedo described Inzaghi as “passionate.”
“He makes you understand right away that he lives for football. He loves it, and he wants to win.”
Meanwhile, Caicedo gave a scathing criticism of Juventus. “When they came up against Lazio, it was embarrassing,” the Ecuardorian said.
“You can’t play like that.”
“Juve are a team that influences the referees a lot,” Caicedo said of the Bianconeri. “They get confused, because they’re such a big team on a media level that it influences them in the end.”
“In the matches we had, there was refereeing I saw that I didn’t like.”
