Ex Inter Milan Coach Compares Iran Star To Nerazzurri & Argentina Legend | OneFootball

Former Inter Mialn coach Andrea Stramaccioni feels that there are parallels between Mehdi Taremi and former Nerazzurri striker Julio Striker.

The ex-coach praised the Iranian international in an interview published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This summer, Taremi was one of Inter’s real marquee signings.

The Nerazzurri had in fact had a deal in the works for the Iranian long before the start of the transfer window.

Taremi had been a target for Inter last summer already. However, they could not agree a deal with Porto, who were holding out for a high fee.

But with the Iranian’s contract with the Portuguese giants expiring at the end of last season, Inter sensed an opportunity.

The Nerazzurri made Taremi into their major attacking reinforcement for the season.

The 32-year-old has already made a couple starts for Inter. One from the start and one from the bench.

And Taremi has had an impact. He has played a crucial role in two goals, and looked right at home leading the line in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system.

Stramaccioni: “Mehdi Taremi Similar To Julio Cruz”

Former Inter coach Stramaccioni declared that “Taremi has absolutely had a positive impact in Serie A.”

“Both in terms of his individual performances and collective understanding with the team.”

Stramaccioni continued that “Mehdi has great footballing intelligence.”

“He knows how to read the game. And he’s shown that right away in Italy.”

“The most important thing now will be for him to accumulate minutes,” Stramaccioni went on of Taremi. “And to improve his understanding with his teammates.”

Of Taremi’s performance in a strike pair with Marcus Thuram, Stramaccioni said that “I was surprised with how well they linked up.”

“They always looked for each other whenever possible.”

Meanwhile, as far as a comparison for Taremi, Stramaccioni said “I would say Julio Cruz.”

“In terms of his ability to link play, and his ability to always be very accurate with his shots on goal.”
