Lazio veteran Pedro Rodriguez reveals he’s remaining at Lazio for another season, quashing all rumors of a summer exit.
The 35-year-old has been a member of the Biancocelesti squad since making a rare crosstown switch from Roma in 2021. Despite spending a campaign with the Giallorossi, he swiftly won over the affection of the Lazio faithful thanks to his impressive displays.
But while his impact has dwindled this season, the Spaniard is still adamant about staying at Formello for one more year. The 2010 World Cup winner activated an automatic renewal clause after achieving performance-related objectives, and he intends to remain until his deal expires in June 2025 as stated in his interview with El Dia via Il Corriere dello Sport.
I would like to return to Spain. I also had some offers, but at the moment it’s complicated. For sure, I will play for Lazio next season.
Moreover, the former Barcelona and Chelsea man expressed how excited he is about the upcoming season.
The truth is that I can’t wait to start the pre-season training camp in a few weeks. I train as much as I can to get off to a good start straight away.
Pedro is one of the most decorated stars of his generation. His trophy cabinet includes a World Cup and two European Championships with Spain, three Champions League and five La Liga titles with Barcelona, as well as a Premier League and Europa League with Chelsea.
