Inter will face Marco Rose’s RB Leipzig in the second round of Champions League fixtures on Tuesday evening. Here is everything you need to know about Simone Inzaghi’s upcoming opposition.

Dangerous players: Openda and Sesko stats

Marco Rose tends to prefer a form of 4-4-2, led by the fruitful strike partnership of Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko. Openda has five goals and three assists from his first 11 Bundesliga games of the season, while Sesko has three from four Champions League outings, plus three goals and two assists from 11 league matches.

RB Leipzig will be without Netherlands international Xavi Simons, who is recovering from an operation on his ankle ligaments.

19-year-old midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, on loan with an obligation to buy from Atletico Madrid, is already making a name for himself, and is likely to be partnered by the dynamic Amadou Haidara in the centre of midfield.

Keep an eye on left-back David Raum, who likes to bomb on and get involved in attacks from his position at left-back.

RB Leipzig form so far

Despite sitting in third in the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig have suffered a poor run either side of the international break, and are without a win in their last four games in all competitions, following a 4-3 loss to Hoffenheim over the weekend, a 0-0 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach before the break, plus a 3-1 loss to Celtic in the Champions League and a 2-1 Bundesliga loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Their last victory came in a 4-2 victory over newly-promoted St. Pauli in the DFB Pokal.

Leipzig’s results in the Champions League have been particularly poor this season. They are one of six teams in the competition who have lost all four of their opening matches, which included a 3-2 loss at home to Juventus at the start of October.

Inter and RB Leipzig have never met before in the Champions League, so there is no previous head-to-head record to note.
