Everton take on Southampton in the Premier League today in the final fixture at Goodison Park.
The Toffees wave farewell to the famous ground this afternoon, before their move to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season. Everton leave Goodison Park after 133 years, though the club have announced the ground will become the permanent home of their women’s side in 2025/26.
David Moyes will be determined to lead his side to victory on what will be an emotional occasion for the Blues.
Already-relegated Southampton are perhaps the perfect opponent for the send-off. The Saints were relegated with a record seven games to spare last month. However, Southampton earned a goalless draw with Manchester City last weekend, avoiding joining 2007/08 Derby County as the team with the lowest-ever Premier League points total.
David Moyes continues to be without James Tarkowski, whose season is over due to a hamstring injury. Fellow defender Jake O’Brien missed last weekend’s win at Fulham, though replacement Michael Keane scored in that victory in West London.
Orel Mangala and Jesper Lindstrom also remain sidelined, with the injured loanees likely to have played their last games for Everton. Moyes may opt to hand Seamus Coleman some minutes in what could be the club captain’s final home game for the Toffees, after 427 appearances.
Everton predicted XI: Pickford; Young, Keane, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Alcaraz, Gueye, Garner, Doucoure, McNeil; Beto
