Everton have scored exactly one goal in five of their last seven matches, failing to score in the other two.
Only Arsenal (5) have seen more red cards in the Premier League this season than Ipswich Town (4), with Everton also receiving two.
Emotions are sure to be high, with this the penultimate game at Goodison Park. David Moyes has long since guided Everton to safety, with the Toffees now holding faint hopes of finishing even higher in mid-table, though 13th is their most realistic target. The Toffees have been draw experts this season, with their 14 stalemates the highest in the Premier League. However, they beat Ipswich 2-0 away earlier this season and will be confident of beating the Tractor Boys again here.
That’s because Ipswich are now on the verge of having their relegation confirmed following a 4-0 defeat to Arsenal. Kieran McKenna’s side have just four wins and 21 points to their name after 33 matches and if they’re to pull off the most unlikely of great escapes, they must win each of their five remaining matches and hope West Ham lose all five of theirs with a 20-goal swing. Ipswich travel to high-flying Newcastle before this match, meaning they could already be gone. Everton, meanwhile, travel to Chelsea the same weekend.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to be fit enough to return for this match, while Jesper Lindstrom and Orel Mangala’s seasons — and possibly their spells at Everton — are over. Captain James Tarkowski came off with a hamstring injury against Man City, with his status unclear.
Leif Davis was sent off against Arsenal and will miss this match due to suspension, while the likes of Jaden Philogene and Chiedozie Ogbene are unlikely to feature. However, Arijanet Muric and Omari Hutchinson could return to action.
Everton beat Ipswich 2-0 earlier this season. However, the Tractor Boys won 2-1 on their last previous visit to Goodison Park way back in February 2002, just a month before David Moyes arrived for his first spell in charge of Everton.
