Everton suffered a big blow during their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Wednesday night as Iliman Ndiaye picked up an injury.

Ahead of the game against Crystal Palace, David Moyes has confirmed that Ndiaye has picked a “medical ligament” injury and he could be out for a few weeks.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder looked emotional as he left the pitch hobbling during the Merseyside derby.

While Moyes couldn’t put an exact time frame for Ndiaye’s potential return, he suggested that the injury is “not looking great”, and the player could be out for a few weeks.

The Toffees boss said: “He has got a medial ligament injury. It’s not looking great at the moment. But probably not sure about how long it is going to be. It’s certainly going to be a few weeks anyway.”

Everton are already missing a host of attacking players, and the injury to Ndiaye would come as a huge blow for the Toffees.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti and Dwight McNeil are currently out injured and Ndiaye has now joined them on the treatment room.

Everton face Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the next four weeks, and Moyes admitted that he might have to pick players from the academy to fill up the numbers.

Ndiaye has scored six goals in 23 Premier League appearances, and he is the club’s top scorer this season. The Toffees paid around £15 million to sign permanently from Marseille during the summer transfer window.

Chris Sutton suggests that the Toffees could find it hard to come up with a strong performance against Palace after an emotional Merseyside derby where the players gave everything on the pitch.

Everton are undefeated in their last four Premier League games, but Sutton has predicted a 1-0 loss for the Toffees against Palace.
