Ex-Everton star Michael Ball insists that Toffees star Iliman Ndiaye is not a player like Diego Maradona, who can do everything by himself and stressed that the forward needs help from his team-mates.

The 24-year-old winger joined Sean Dyche’s squad in the summer and he has been one of the standout players for Everton this season.

However, Ndiaye’s recent performances in the league have been underwhelming, as the forward has failed to contribute in the last five of Everton’s games.

Ball thinks that opposition teams have identified that Ndiaye is a major threat for Everton and pointed out that teams usually mark him with two or three players whenever he is on the ball.

He highlighted that Ndiaye is frustrated and looking poor because he is not receiving help from his team-mates and stated that the winger is not like Maradona, who can do everything by himself.

“They [opposition teams] know what our threat is; it’s Iliman Ndiaye”, Ball wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“So, every time he gets the ball, there are two or three opponents around him and all our other players will stand and watch.

“He needs to improve his final ball, but he’s taken several players on and there’s nobody else helping him.

“Nobody is getting close to him, doing a one-two, we’re letting him try and do everything himself because nobody else is on the same level.

“That’s starting to make him look like a poor player because he’s not getting help and is showing frustration.

“It’s not like he’s Diego Maradona, he can’t do it all by himself.”

Everton are severely struggling in the goalscoring department, as they have scored only one goal in their last five league games.
