Everton reject bids for Iliman Ndiaye | OneFootball

The usually reliable social media source for transfer window activity, Fabrizio Romano, says that Everton have rejected enquiries for the services of Iliman Ndiaye from clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A.

Given the struggle Everton have experienced finding new players to strengthen a threadbare squad this summer, the possibility of one of the better players in the squad being tempted to depart for an opportunity at a different club is difficult to contemplate.

Hopefully this is just part and parcel of the normal transfer business where talented players are under constant 'monitoring' by the recruitment teams at other clubs. As long as Ndiaye is happy to continue working under David Moyes with his current contract running through 2029, Everton should be in a strong position t repel such advances.

Unfortunately one of the downsides of a good transfer policy is that there'll be some regrettable departures... it's a much better model than trying to shift players we paid big money for when they're over the hill on big wages.

I still find it incredible that we got him at that age and transfer fee. His agent must not watch much football.

The Eze gazumping will have pushed Levy into bidding £12.95 for Iliman (payment to be split over 10 seasons).

He's our best attacking player, so I'm not surprised that other clubs want him, but we can't sell him at any cost right now.

I said a few weeks ago it was important we get this lad signed to a new contract because it was obvious there would be clubs after him— it wouldn’t surprise me if the money is right then he will be sold!

Hopefully, Andrew, if we sell it'll be at the right price. In the past we've let other clubs take the you know what. Having said that I pray that we keep hold of him.But I keep thinking of the fees that lot get for their squad players...£25 million for Doak. Let's take a leaf out of their book

Alan, I think having their name on your CV boosts your price. I'd be surprised if we got much more than £30m for N'Diaye if that.

There is likely to be interest in Ndiaye. He is a very good player.

Whether they are concrete and there is anything in them is another thing. With the window coming to a close, there is bound to be lots of speculation.

We withstood the alleged interest in Branthwaite and got him on a new 5 year contract. There's no reason we can't do the same with Ndiaye.

Bringing in Grealish, an overpaid has-been superstar, who effectively plays the same game as Ndiaye, has unbalanced everything. Instead of developing and celebrating Ndiaye, potentially a better player than Grealish, we now risk losing him. And we sign Barry who is not good enough, so we still haven't even got a proven striker. What the hell is going on? Usless management, at all levels.

Andrew, I'm sure we'd get more given his age and proven ability.

On the other thing, I've no doubt that club on a young player's CV adds value. Not dissimilar to working at certain companies or attending certain universities. You might assume they've been developed well with a winner's attitude. As much as we wouldn't like to admit that.

Agreed Andrew @13. Even though it might make Mike Gaynes go doolally, I’ve always suspected the TFG being more interested in the potential return on BMD, and it’s surrounding areas, than in the team itself.

Of course, they need a premier league team to showcase their investment, but I’ve think they’ve got more than one eye on the Clarence dock and more of the waterfront aka the Mersey Riviera.

They are not emotionally invested in Everton like us. We are just part of their business portfolio. I hope they can bring us success but, for my part, the jury is still out.

Selling well is very much part of the game these days. Our neighbours are masters of it.

Fabrizio Romana said on his twitter account that Ndaiyes agent approached AC Milan to see if they would be interested in Ndaiye.Obviously the player must be well aware of what his agent is doing.So I guess if the money is right he will be sold, the problem being we cant attract players as it is if we sell our best attacking option what message does that send to possible replacements.

One of the few players in the squad who looks like creating any chances, often through his own doing.Always looks a threat and can imagine if he had decent players around him he could move up a level.Full of energy and never gives up, often tracking back to help the defence and then swiftly reverts back to his forward duties when we are on the attack.Need to fill the side with players like him instead of selling him. Quite a few talentless players we should be looking to sell before him, but sadly on too high wages to want to leave and also nobody wants them.

If we didn’t need to sell Branthwaite we don’t need to Ndyiae in fact we need to BUY players like him to move forward instead of stagnating or going backward 💙

Moyes just said the reason players don't want to come to Everton is because they want europe.

Makes sense and goes back to my earlier point if someone makes me a job offer, coming in at a lower level with no career progression and not the best tools available at my disposal but can offer me to work in one of there shiny offices, i'm turning the offer down.

As for TFG, it's the bottom line they are interested in. If they wanted ambition and immersed themselves into the history of our club they would have been present at the last game at Goodison and Sundays first game at Bramley Moore (presuming Dan Friedkin won't be here)

Everton are just another business added to there existing portfolio of businesses. As as long as the club tick along that'll do for them.

I think we're reading too much into this, whether it's his agent looking after his own interest, he only signed last summer, our standout player last season, of course club's are going to be interested, but I don't think we should be highlighting it. I don't think Grealish is the same player as Ndiaye, Pep played him on the left, but his best position is playmaker, which he was at Villa, but I do think KDH and Alcaraz play in the same position?

Our new owners may not be emotionally invested in Everton‘s traditions, but they are certainly emotionally invested in their own success. They’re not going to want to have a 15th placed club in a shiny new stadium.

The best way TFG can improve their own bottom line is by improving the value of Everton. A well-maintained football club is a very fast growing asset and a fantastic long-term investment if properly handled.

Roma has grown in enterprise value while maintaining a solid level of performance on the pitch. That will be TFG‘s objective for us.

They didn’t sell off our best asset in Jarrad, And I strongly doubt they will sell Ili.

George 25, the rs yanks have a worldwide, media monster on their hands. They were already a behemoth when they bought out the other cowboys. But they do show their faces. They do attend games. They do pretend to enjoy themselves and mix with he plebs etc…

Our own Howard Hughes prefers to stay silent, hidden away playing with his planes. That's fine with me. It's his money, his train set. But a word or two wouldn't go amiss. Some sign of life. Just tell us you love us, Friedkin, even if you do have your fingers crossed behind your back.

After the Monday disaster we need some TLC. Well at least I do.

Crystal Palace will attempt to gazump Everton in the race to sign Southampton's English winger Tyler Dibling, 19, by making a £35m-plus bid for the teenager.

Definitely looking like he's surplus to plans, and the way the owner accosted him on the pitch last season, his way or no way.

Not sure Nuno is an upgrade on Moyes. He did well at Wolves at first but was on the way to taking them down before they got rid of him.

Couldn't handle the pressure at Spurs and I feel he would struggle the same here. Didn't last long in Saudi and was looking for a way back into the Premier League.

Started really well at Forest, but struggled at the end of the season and seems to be heading in a similar direction to that at Wolves now.

What difference would the appearance of the new owner make? Everton are just part of a huge financial empire that they hope in the future will increase their financial wealth.

The Board and Chairman have the authority to hire and fire who they want and lack of success will put their positions in the firing line. The criticisms seem to be based on our game against Leeds, mine included. The game was between a newly promoted team at home with a fully fit squad, against a team who struggled to fill in injured players with suitable replacements.

Regardless of all their possession, Leeds scored 1 goal from a penalty? Everton did not play well but it appeared to do more with an unbalanced team with a couple of regular players well below form.

Would a new owner appearing make a difference? I doubt it.

I watched the game over again last night, without the walking up and down and screaming and yelling at the tv, and though it was not great, it did not seem to be as bad as I originally thought.

After 1 game, I do not think changing the manager will make any difference, have we not tried that over the last 8 or 9 seasons? Ask yourself what team would I have picked with the players available.

John #46, agreed, but I doubt quality has anything to do with Nuno's problems. Calling out a Greek owner in public for failing to do business in the transfer window -- and then not having much to say when the owner spends £100 million on four quality players -- is not exactly a recipe for job security. Neither is publicly acknowledging the bad relationship.

Bill #47, I too am bewildered at the importance some people place on the owner's appearance at a game. What difference would that make? Would we play better? Can't figure that one out. Has Arsenal failed to win the league because Kroenke never comes to a game?

Mike 48, I was speaking more out of frustration than anything else.

After that “thing” (I can't call it a performance) that happened on Monday night, and our lack of movement on the (right side) transfer front, I was really pissed off with Moyes and Friedkin.

Hopefully, this coming week will see Dibling, a right-back, centre-midfield and a few extra bodies arrive. We need to hang on until the international break to bed these players in and get some of our wounded back.

Assuming Moyes plays 4-2-3-1, the ‘2' being two out of Gueye, Dewsbury-Hall, Garner, Armstrong (as a substitute or to cover injuries) assuming that Iroegbunam gets loaned out this season.

For the ‘3', I suppose Moyes's first choice would be Ndiaye, Grealish and McNeil or Alcaraz to begin with. And gradually bring on Dibling (knock on wood) as the season progresses. We really do need to get a proven or veteran striker until Barry and Chermiti find their feet. Beto will be sold I believe before the window closes.

So, long story short: Ndiaye is essential to our system, he is not getting sold. I can see that Moyes may be tempted to cash in on McNeil – a player whom I greatly appreciate – to raise funds to buy or loan the Beto replacement.

I think McNeil will be sold. Let's see if he's involved on Sunday, but I think Moyes is looking to cut him by not involving him on Monday and some of the pre-season line-ups. He's not keen to play him right-wing or wing-back, and he's probably 3rd or 4th choice at left-wing or #10.

I think an experienced midfielder will still come in. We will need something for when Gana is away. I'd like Gallagher, could see Soucek, but would hope for someone that is better on the ball with some physical size to give us that strong anchor point, like a Rodri type player.

In demand with Baleba valued at £100M, and Man Utd told to do one.

Whilst I can see we have brought in some interesting players with potential overall I cannot see a proper plan with a balanced team of players to play this season. The key positions of right back, left sided defensive cover, defensive midfielder and goal scorer have still all to be addressed.

Okay it's boring to moan but there seems to me to be little balance within the assembled squad. The team selected on Monday to play Leeds, looked and played like a team with little balance or shape and this will continue until someone addresses the clear gaps in the squad.

For some reason most professional footballers tend to play using only there left or right foot and until we have two additional left sided defenders we will struggle.
