Everton are reportedly preparing a bid for Fenerbahçe midfielder Fred, with talks expected to escalate in the coming days.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, the Toffees are willing to pay a significant transfer fee to secure the services of the 32 year old Brazilian, who joined Fenerbahçe from Manchester United in 2023.

David Moyes is said to be prioritising reinforcements in midfield this summer, and Fred appears to be a key target.

The former United man has impressed in Turkey following his €9.74 million move, becoming a regular starter in Istanbul.

However, Fenerbahçe are now pursuing a deal for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma, which could leave Fred surplus to requirements.

Despite being pleased with his contribution, the Turkish giants may be open to letting him go.

The report claims Fenerbahçe would demand at least €18 million (£15.2m) for the midfielder, whose current contract runs until 2027.

This long-term deal means the club are under no immediate pressure to sell.

From Everton’s perspective, the fee may be a sticking point.

Fred’s age and the possibility of extending Idrissa Gana Gueye’s contract could lead to hesitation over spending big on a veteran player.

Still, the links between Everton and Fred persist, with Takvim suggesting that negotiations could gain traction soon.

Moyes is believed to value the Brazilian’s experience and technical quality, which could add balance to Everton’s midfield.

The Merseyside club are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer after another underwhelming campaign.

With Gueye potentially extending his stay and other targets also being monitored, Fred is one of several options being considered.
