Everton confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as new manager | OneFootball

Everton have announced that they have appointed Sean Dyche as their next manager.

The 51-year-old has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2025.

The former Burnley boss emerged as one of the earlier candidates to take over from Frank Lampard.

Former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa was also in the running for the job, flying into the country for talks.

However, Everton opted to give the position to Dyche, and he is their eighth manager under owner Farhad Moshiri.

The British-Iranian businessman took over the Merseyside club in 2016.

Things have not gone exactly well since then despite spending heavily on recruitment.

Everton escaped relegation by a whisker last season, with four points keeping them up.

They have won just three games out of 20 this term, and are currently 19th in the Premier League table.

Dyche proved himself with Burnley, keeping the Clarets up for five seasons before getting sacked last April.

He also helped them qualify for the Europa League for the first time in the club’s history during the nine-and-a-half years he spent at Turf Moor.

Everton have dreamed of playing European football regularly under Moshiri, and Dyche could be their man.

The former Watford boss has the tough job of keeping them up this season, and he can get that done.

The Toffees are just two points away from safety, and their fortunes could change under the new boss.

Ian Woan has joined Everton as Dyche’s Assistant Manager, Steve Stone as First-Team Coach, and Mark Howard as sports scientist. The trio previously worked with Dyche at Burnley.
