Everton have confirmed the news that defender Katrine Veje has left the club upon the expiry of her contract at Walton Hall Park.

WSL Full-Time were informed of Veje’s Everton exit via an official club press release from the Merseysiders this morning.

Veje joined Everton from Swedish club FC Rosengård in summer 2022. The 33-year-old defender has gone on to make 27 appearances for The Blue Girls in the Barclays Women’s Super League, helping the club to record sixth and eighth-place finishes.

While Veje has had plenty of game time at Everton, the player has struggled with niggling injuries during her spell on Merseyside. Manager Brian Sørensen was without Veje’s services for a lengthy period last season with the player battling against a couple of troublesome issues. The Dane will now be hoping for a fresh start in 2024/2025 when she takes up her next challenge.

Veje is the fifth player to leave Everton this summer. The club released Annie Wilding, Eleanor Dale and Toni Duggan at the end of last season while Hanna Bennison has also recently left Everton.

Manager Sørensen’s focus will be upon bolstering his squad in the coming weeks. Nigerian international forward Toni Payne became Everton’s first summer addition earlier today.
