Voetbal International reports that Everton and Nottingham Forest have made transfer enquiries for Swansea City striker Joël Piroe. Last week Leicester City submitted an offer for the 23-year-old Dutch striker but Swansea are reluctant to sell their goal machine. Piroe scored 19 goals in 43 Championship appearances for the Swans last season as the club finished in tenth place.
Piroe joined Swansea City from PSV in the summer of 2021. The former Netherlands U20 international has since featured 92 times in all competitions for the Swans, scoring 44 goals. He can play as a striker or on either wing. Everton have a limited transfer budget this summer. They’re in need of a proven goal scorer to help fire them up the Premier League table next season. In the last campaign, the Toffees scored just 34 times in 38 games as they narrowly avoided relegation. Left-winger Dwight McNeil finished the season as Everton’s top scorer with seven goals. A player like Piroe could definitely help with their issues in front of goal.
Joël Piroe has only one year remaining on his contract at Swansea. Head coach Michael Duff recently revealed that the striker could depart this summer. However, the club would have to receive the right offer. Along with Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, Italian clubs are also said to be interested in Joël Piroe.
