The coming months will not be easy for Real Madrid, especially after the results of the UEFA Champions League draw earlier today.

After all, they now face Atletico Madrid, Manchester City twice and Osasuna in a span of ten days and it will not be easy for the Merengues to pull off positive results back-to-back.

It is thus crucial that they get on song in the coming games, and the practice will begin tomorrow night in a crucial away game against Espanyol.

Espanyol goalkeeper optimistic

Speaking to the media earlier today, Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia commented on the upcoming game against Real Madrid and how it would be an uphill battle for his side.

“When you play against these teams you know it is very difficult, but we play at home and we are getting good results.”

Garcia also looked back to the game the two teams played in the first phase of La Liga and how Espanyol did well to keep Real Madrid under pressure for over an hour.

“In the first meeting this season, we already competed more than 70 minutes very well. Becoming strong at home is very important.”

Finally, he spoke about his team’s complicated situation at the league table, emphasising what motivated the Catalan side heading into a big game against the defending champions.

“We know that if we want to achieve the goal, we have to add more points than in the first round. We have to grow and do our own thing. I’m sure it will go well.”

Espanyol are currently on 20 points after 21 games and in the relegation zone. A defeat tomorrow could leave them four points behind 17th-placed Alaves.
