Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is ‘disrespected’, according to one of his Etihad Stadium teammates off the back of a 27-goal season in the Premier League.

The Norwegian striker saw a downturn in both Manchester City appearances and goal contributions from his staggering, record-breaking debut season with the club, but has still managed to be hugely instrumental in the team’s successes.

Thanks to Erling Haaland’s contributions, Manchester City managed to make it a fourth successive Premier League title this season, with the Norway forward claiming the division’s Golden Boot in the process with 27 goals to his name.

That success on both a personal and collective front comes despite Haaland missing almost the entirety of the club’s winter months with a fractured bone in his foot, leaving Julian Alvarez to lead the line for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Speaking during a new interview with talkSPORT, Jack Grealish has revealed a belief that his Manchester City attacking teammate Erling Haaland is ‘a bit disrespected’ given the conversation around his latest season in England.

“I’ve said so many times before he’s just unbelievable man, he’s just a killer,” told the radio broadcaster. “This season he’s scored 27 goals in the league. It’s a bit disrespected, it’s as if it’s not good.

“He’s unbelievable, he’s there every time the ball is in the box. I can’t speak highly enough of him. I get on really well with him, he’s a brilliant guy, so good to have around the place.”

Grealish continued, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone have his work ethic. The things he does on a day-to-day basis whether it’s to help his sleep or his recovery… I’ve never seen anything like it. To me it shows why he’s so successful.”

Jack Grealish’s comments come after some within the media have been heavily critical of Haaland’s all-round play, with Roy Keane going as far as to suggest that the 23-year-old’s on-the-ball quality is that of a League Two player.

Erling Haaland has a further opportunity to silence any remaining doubters in the final weekend of Manchester City’s season, as they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup finale at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
