Jack Grealish has received a fresh comparison to one of the Premier League’s all-time greatest players from his close friend and Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland.

While Grealish’s move to Everton was initially met with scepticism by some supporters, the England international has wasted little time in silencing doubts through his earliest performances for his new club.

A string of standout showings since his season-long loan switch was confirmed has highlighted not only his quality but also his ability to thrive in a new role under David Moyes, and his latest display at Molineux was further evidence of his impact.

Grealish had been surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium this summer, with City shifting their focus towards younger attacking options and tactical reshaping under Pep Guardiola, leaving the 29-year-old facing a crossroads in his career.

The decision to move on to a fresh challenge already looks vindicated, with Grealish establishing himself as one of the league’s most in-form creative players in the opening weeks of the 2025/26 campaign.

With four assists in just two top-flight matches, he is already proving a key figure in David Moyes’ midfield, bringing a touch of quality and experience to an Everton side seeking stability after years of struggle.

In an upload to his Snapchat story on Saturday afternoon, and in light of Jack Grealish’s strong performance for Everton in their 2-3 away win over Wolves, Erling Haaland wrote, “Jack De Bruyne does it again for Everton”.

Jack Grealish first teed up Beto with a clever header before producing a brilliant reverse pass in the build-up to Iliman Ndiaye’s strike, while his final contribution came in the second half, providing the ball for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s effort to secure the points.

Erling Haaland’s comparison to Kevin De Bruyne may have been made in jest, but it reflects just how highly Jack Grealish’s Manchester City teammates still regard him beyond life alongside them at the Etihad Stadium.

With Everton already reaping the benefits of his creativity, the question now is whether he can maintain this level of consistency across the campaign. Should he continue to produce match-winning contributions, Grealish may force City into a rethink over his long-term future.

If Grealish thrives on Merseyside, it could even open the door to another Premier League club making a permanent move for him next summer. Either way, his Everton loan is quickly shaping up to be one of the early success stories of the season, and Merseyside officials could snap City’s hand off when it comes to their £50 million option to buy in the temporary deal.
