The former Manchester United boss is set to make a lot of changes to Bayer Leverkusen's frontline, and the coach who arrived a month ago today will have a lot of work to do to get the team ready for next season. One name that has been the subject of much speculation is Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side.
Having joined Bayer Leverkusen two years ago today from Royale Union SG, the Nigerian striker has been a standout performer in his new Bundesliga side and has contributed to the team's success over the past two years.
In his first season, he contributed 21 goals and 10 assists in 37 games, then last season he scored 11 goals and two assists in 27 games.
Despite the Nigerian striker's impressive performances for his Bundesliga side, injuries have prevented him from continuing to perform consistently and have given players like Patrik Schick another opportunity to play the role of the main striker instead of the Nigerian who has been plagued by injuries.
At the end of last season, Boniface didn't really get a lot of minutes for his Bundesliga side but was relied upon elsewhere and the coach's choices were based on another player.
However, despite all these contradictions, press reports from inside sources close to the Nigerian star and his team have indicated that Dutch coach Ten Hag has decided to rely on the player and wants him to stay for next season.
On the other hand, other reports indicate that the Nigerian star is receiving a lot of interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr and at the moment his future remains uncertain whether he will stay in the Bundesliga or leave.
