Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been asked whether he will be rotating his Chelsea lineup for their game against Southampton this Wednesday evening.

His side go to Southampton off the back of an impressive and comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, keeping them up there in the top three in the league currently, and leapfrogging Manchester City who lost to Liverpool and are in a really tough time right now.

Chelsea are in the opposite after being in a tough period in the last few seasons since the new owners came in. Things are finally starting to come together a bit more for them now though and the performances are matching the ambition.

Maresca sees the Southampton game as being very tough despite them being rock bottom of the Premier League right now. Saints recently gave Liverpool a very good game and were hugely unlucky to lose that, and they also drew with Brighton in their last match. Still, they have only won one game all season.

Will Maresca rotate?

Maresca speaking at the press conference

I have a feeling the Blues head coach might still look ahead to Sunday’s match against Tottenham and the fact that his players only played on Sunday just gone. For this reason, I think we could see some of the Chelsea ‘B-Team’ come into the lineup to start.

The Italian was asked about that in the press conference today.

Are you going to rotate a lot against Southampton?

“We had yesterday’s session where the guys that played had a recovery. Now, this afternoon, we have one more session and then we decide.”

So he gives nothing away, but I do think that he might rest some key players or at least start them on the bench.
