We’re still waiting for Enzo Maresca in the post match press conference, but he’s already spoken to TNT Sport after a thrilling 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea boss was delighted with his team’s first half performance – as we all were. But things fell apart in the second period, and the Blues were in some ways lucky to end the game with a point after Reece James whipped in a free kick in the 95th minute to equalise.
Maresca insisted his team had deserved more than a point, however, when you consider the dominant first half they had:
“I don’t think [a draw was fair]. I think we deserved much more, especially the first half. It’s a game we could finish 2, 3 nil first half – the amount of shots, chances, but it’s football,” the Chelsea coach said.
“Overall I think we completely deserve to win the game and unfortunately we didn’t win.”
He was able to point to the mental collapse his team had had after conceding, however:
“After we concede the [first] goal, we completely change the way we are playing in terms of we drop a little bit, and this is something we need to improve.”
This issue has afflicted us for some time, and something needs to be done about it. He’s the manager, he’s had 6 months. Let’s hope we see some progress by the end of the season.

None of the nervy defending once we concede would be an issue were we able to put away our chances of course, and that was another thing the coach noted:
“For sure the most important thing is to create chances, but also we need to be clinical. Already in the last four, five games I think it happens many times.”
