Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has issued an update on outcasts Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku ahead of the transfer deadline, while also addressing their plans to replace Levi Colwill after the defender suffered an ACL injury.

The London club have work to do before the September 1 deadline, and some of that will include outgoings. Following the arrivals of João Pedro and Liam Delap at Stamford Bridge, both Nkunku and Jackson have fallen down the pecking order.

Speaking ahead of Friday night's game against West Ham, Maresca addressed the futures of both players and confirmed they will not be involved at the London Stadium.

"He [Jackson] is available but he is not going to be part of the squad [v West Ham]," the Chelsea boss told the media. "We know that something can happen before the transfer window closes.

"Christo [Nkunku] is with us, like Nico. But it's the same answer."

He then went on to issue an update on their centre-back situation, after Colwill sustained a devastating ACL injury earlier this month. While there had been speculation over whether Chelsea would re-enter the market for defensive reinforcements, it appears that won't be the case as priorities lie elsewhere.

"I already said, that we are already looking for internal solutions," Maresca added. "I showed that last game.

"We will see. We are trying, as I said, to find solutions. I repeat. We are looking for internal solutions. We will what happens."

In a huge boost, Maresca also confirmed defender Tosin Adarabioyo will be available to face West Ham. A minor issue ruled him out of the season opener against Crystal Palace last weekend, but he is back in contention for Friday's game.
