Liverpool have been extremely busy in the transfer window, despite the summer last until September 1, the club is directly against letting their recruitment business drag on into August.

The hole left by Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back has been filled, the left-back role is on the brink of being freshened up, and now that Jarell Quansah is leaving, a centre-back is necessary.

Furthermore, the future of Ibrahima Konate is uncertain as his contract will expire next season, and Virgil van Dijk will only be around until 2027 on his current extension. Future-planning is required.

A variety of options are being considered, but the most ideal option by far is Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace and the Reds have every right to be feeling confident in their ability to get an agreement.

Personal terms are not an issue with Guehi

According to the Liverpool Echo, securing the England international is a legitimate possibility.

Their latest report said: "The ECHO has been informed that Guehi would jump at the opportunity to move to Anfield if the opportunity arose but reports in national media over the weekend said he is relaxed about the situation and is prepared to stay with the FA Cup winners for one final term before leaving as a free agent.

"There is little chance of a contract extension in south London, however, leaving the FA Cup holders with two choices: sell now for a lower price, or lose him for nothing in 2026."

As you would expect, the chance to join the Premier League champions and to play Champions League football is a tantalising one, and Liverpool hold a lot of cards in their hands to sign him.

But Palace also have European football this season, following their FA Cup win, although this will depend on the result of a potential tribunal which could happen because of ownership complications.
