FIFA revealed the latest rankings on their official website today, with all 16 Euro 2025 teams sitting inside the top 30.

The prior rankings, published on March 12th, saw the Lionesses sit in fourth place behind the United States, Spain, and Germany.

However, since then, England have suffered defeat in two out of the four Nations League games they have played.

Belgium beat England in a five-goal thriller back in April, while Euro 2025 favourites Spain came from behind to beat the Lionesses 2-1 earlier this month.

As a result, England have dropped behind Brazil to fifth in the rankings. The United States, Spain, and Germany maintained their top three spots.

Brazil have won three of their last four fixtures, including a 2-1 win over the United States and back-to-back games against Japan, who dropped from fifth to seventh in the rankings.

Sweden are ranked 6th, while England’s Group D opponents at Euro 2025, France and the Netherlands switched places to 10th and 11th, respectively.

The rest of the top 10 is made up of Japan (7th), Canada (8th) and Korea DPR (9th).

Wales are the lowest-ranked side out of all 16 teams set to compete at Euro 2025, at 30th. Euro 2025 hosts Switzerland are ranked 23rd in the world—13th among the teams competing in the Euros.

Euro 2025 groups by world ranking

The FIFA Women’s World Rankings place England in the second most difficult group at Euro 2025 by average ranking.

England’s group, which also includes France, the Netherlands, and Wales, has an average world ranking of 14.

This number is elevated by Wales’ 30th world ranking, while the three other teams are all ranked in the top 11.

England’s Euro 2025 fixture schedule sees them start the tournament on July 5th against France in Zurich. They then play the Netherlands and Wales on July 9th and 13th respectively.

The rankings suggest that Group C – featuring Germany, Poland, Denmark and Sweden – could be classified as the ‘Group of Death’.

Germany and Sweden are both ranked inside the top six in the world, with Denmark 12th and Poland 27th.

The teams in group B – Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and Italy – have an average ranking of 14.25.

Hosts Switzerland are in the easiest group on paper alongside Norway, Iceland, and Finland. The average world ranking out of these four sides is 19.25 with Iceland in 14th holding the highest ranking.
