It was also announced yesterday that Lucy Newell had secured a temporary switch to Birmingham City for the rest of the season.

United youngster Emma Watson also spent time out on loan last season at Everton, playing six games in total.

She won the player of the match award against Tottenham Hotspur during her spell in Merseyside.

Her loan was even more impressive as she successfully recovered from an ACL injury she picked up in 2023 on international duty, shortly after joining the Red Devils.

Watson has now secured a new loan move for the coming season.

Loan to Crystal Palace

The Scottish midfielder “has secured a season-long loan move to Women’s Super League 2 club Crystal Palace” according to the club’s official website.

The site adds that “the teenager is now set to gain further experience in south London this season, under the tutelage of new Palace boss Jo Potter, who took charge of Rangers in the same summer that Emma departed the Scottish giants for United.”

Palace were relegated from the Women’s Super League last season and will be hoping for a promotion push this season.

The Crystal Palace manager, Jo Potter, is delighted by the move and claimed, “Emma is a fantastic young talent who has already gained valuable experience at both club and international level. We look forward to helping her continue her progression with us this season.”

Watson was also excited to secure a loan move and stated, “I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, meeting all the girls and working with Jo. I’m really excited to be here and I’m proud to be a Palace player.”

She could make her first appearance for Palace against Charlton Athletic on Sunday 7th September.
