Manchester United striker Elisabeth Terland has emphasised she is very happy with the way the team is playing, following their 3-1 win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Terland bagged a brace to clinch all three points for United at Leigh Sports Village. Grace Clinton also got on the score sheet.
For her first, Terland got on the end of a pass from teammate Hinata Miyazawa, after Milla-Maj Majasaari’s poor clearance was intercepted. Terland produced a fine turn and expertly finished, sending the ball into the bottom corner.
She came close to securing a hat-trick within the first 15 minutes, first forcing Majasaari into a save before connecting with Ella Toone’s cross and hitting the post from eight yards out.
The United striker eventually got her double in the second half as she latched on to a loose ball and tapped home after rounding the Palace keeper.
Terland has now scored an impressive seven goals and provided a further four assists in 13 WSL matches since she joined the Reds in the summer.
Speaking to club media after the match, she said, “Yeah, I think it’s a hard game today. I think we showed a lot of character in the second half. It feels comfortable and yeah, it’s a good win.”
“We knew that they were going to take transitions and they showed that they’re dangerous at it. But I think, especially in the second half, our defence gave them nothing really.”
“And then we have a lot of chances and played some good football. I could have had a lot more goals today as well. So, yeah it’s a good win.”
She remarked about her two strikes, “I think as a team we’re in a good place. I like the football we play…we’re more confident. We have a good group of people, good staff and we want to push every day. That is an environment you want to be in, so I’m buzzing.”
“I love all my teammates and I love my team. As a striker, to have all these players behind you, it just gives a different feeling, so yeah, I love my team and I love my staff.”
United are second in the WSL table, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
