Eintracht Frankfurt make Clément Akpa enquiry | OneFootball

Following AJ Auxerre’s promotion, Clément Akpa (23) impressed in Ligue 1 last season. The centre-back was an ever-present under Christophe Pélissier. His performances in France earned him a place in the Ivory Coast national team, whilst there was also reported interest from the Premier League.

Despite Auxerre comfortably securing their safety in Ligue 1, they have lost key players. Hamed Junior Traoré has returned to parent club Bournemouth, whilst Gaëtan Perrin has made a move to the Russian top-flight.

Akpa could become the latest member of Pélissier’s squad to depart. According to a report from L’Équipe, Eintracht Frankfurt, who last season finished third in the Bundesliga, have made an enquiry about the defender with a view to a potential move. The German side have turned to Akpa due to difficulties in the deal to sign Ko Itakura from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Ivorian’s contract at Auxerre runs until the summer of 2027.
