Egyptian FA Responds to Palestinian Call to Protect Al Ahly’s Wessam Abou Ali
A senior official at the Egyptian Football Association EFA's responded to the Palestinian FA’s request for intervention in the ongoing crisis surrounding Al Ahly striker Wessam Abou Ali.
Earlier on Friday, the Palestinian Football Association published statement via X and its official website urging the EFA and President Hani Abou Rida to step in and shield the Palestinian international from what it called "unjust media and public criticism" in Egypt.
They also called on Al Ahly to assume its full responsibility in protecting its players urging the club to defuse tensions and ensure the player isn’t left vulnerable during ongoing internal disagreements.
EFA: Not Our Jurisdiction
In exclusive remarks to Masrawy, EFA official clarified the Association’s stance:
"We don’t interfere in club affairs unless it involves formal complaints governed by our regulations , such as disputes between players and clubs. We aren't watchdogs over the media"
He added:
"We’ve already treated Wessam Abou Ali as domestic player in our official regulations. What more can we do?"
The Palestinian FA eventually deleted the statement from both its social media & official website but screenshots continue to circulate keeping the controversy alive.
