The President of the Brazilian Football Confederation has been removed Thursday evening, according to reports from O Globo.

Ednaldo Rodrigues will step down from his post after just over one year in charge, and an election for a new president will follow in the coming months.

Rodrigues signed a four-year contract with the federation in 2022, but the Rio de Janeiro justice system has judged those documents signed by the 69-year-old to be illegal, this nullifying his election last year.

Most notably, Rodrigues was the president who has pursued Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti for the head coaching position in Brazil ahead of the 2024 Copa America and 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reports out of Brazil have revealed that José Perdiz will take over the role on an interim basis.
