Manchester City entertained Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the UEFA Champions League. Pep Guardiola‘s men made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 12th minute when Rodrygo found the back of the net. Man City went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Kevin de Bruyne equalised for the home team in the 76th minute as the match finished with a 1-1 scoreline. Both teams canceled each other out in extra time as the contest went to penalties after the tie finished with an aggregate score of 4-4.
Man City ended up losing the tie on penalties by a 4-3 margin.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player performed during the clash against Los Blancos.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
He scored his penalty and managed to make a good stop in the shootout as well. However, his efforts were not enough in the end.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10
Walker performed his defensive duties well but struggled to influence the game in the final third.
CB: Manuel Akanji – 7/10
He got stuck in with a few solid tackles and made some decent chances in the opponent’s half.
CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10
Dias earned the ball twice on the defensive end of the field and was a strong presence in the air.

LB: Josko Gvardiol – 7/10
He was a positive influence in both halves and was a dominant presence in the air.
CM: Rodri – 7/10
Rodri made a handful of inviting chances in the final third and won a couple of aerial duels.
RW: Phil Foden – 7/10
He was a real menace in the final third and managed to score his penalty in the shootout.
CAM: Kevin de Bruyne – 7/10
He was a constant threat in the opponent’s half and managed to score the equaliser in the 76th minute.
CAM: Bernardo Silva – 7/10
Silva gave a good account of himself in both halves. However, he missed his penalty in the shootout.
LW: Jack Grealish – 6.5/10
He was full of energy and running but failed to make a difference in the final third.
ST: Erling Haaland – 7/10
Haaland caused some headaches for his marker but there was no goal for him tonight.

Doku was a constant menace in the final third.
CAM: Julian Alvarez – 7/10
He converted his penalty in the shootout.

He missed his spot-kick.
