Eddie Howe has made position clear to The FA on England job after informal approach | OneFootball

Eddie Howe has absolutely no intention of leaving Newcastle United.

Despite the issue having raised its head again, with England’s defeat to Greece on Thursday night.

Eddie Howe of course is the obvious candidate and The FA would love to have him, however, his intention is only to manage Newcastle United for the foreseeable future.

When Gareth Southgate belatedly resigned, Eddie Howe was made the bookies favourite.

However, when the post was formally advertised by The FA in July, the Newcastle United boss was asked at an NUFC pre-season press conference if he would be applying. He gave an unequivocal answer…

“I am fully committed to Newcastle United.

“There is nothing to talk about.

“I do not need to address the players.

“They know by how I act.

“They can see how I am on a daily basis, to see how committed I am to the club.”

The Telegraph have now revealed that The FA did make an informal approach to Eddie Howe originally. This was done via an enquiry to Howe’s representatives.

However, just like when Eddie Howe spoke at that press conference back in July, The FA were informed of the same thing. Eddie Howe is happy at Newcastle United and doesn’t want to leave, for England or whoever.

The Telegraph saying that their sources tell them that absolutely nothing has changed and that The FA are aware of this.

The newspaper report says that The FA are hoping that the interim boss Lee Carsley can still prove himself to be the right choice and become permanent.

Which is completely understandable, as with Eddie Howe having no interest, you are probably looking at the likes of Frank Lampard… if The FA insisted on an English manager and decided not to give it to Carsley.

Eddie Howe has been talking about the England vacancy.

The Newcastle United Head Coach the subject of widespread media claims that he will follow Gareth Southgate as national team boss.

Eddie Howe also remaining the bookies favourite for the job at 5/2, although very little in it, as Graham Potter is 11/4 and Lee Carsley 3/1.

Basically, nobody has a clue.

Eddie Howe quizzed ahead of Friday’s deadline from The FA (see below), 2 August 2024 the final day for anybody interested to apply for the vacancy.

We can actually rule out one of those three bookies’ favourites, that is, if you believe Eddie Howe, which I certainly do.

Eddie Howe stating he is fully committed to the Newcastle United job 18 days ahead of the new NUFC Premier League season and that he has had zero contact with anybody regarding the England job, far less filling in an application form for the job…

Eddie Howe asked about media claims he will be the next England manager:
