Eddie Howe saw his team unlucky to lose 3-2 to Arsenal on Sunday.
Of more concern to the Newcastle United Head Coach than the result of this friendly, was the sight of Sven Botman forced off the pitch due to injury.
The Dutch defender was one of nine half-time changes but only lasted 25 minutes, replaced by Harrison Ashby on the 70th minute mark.
After the final whistle on Sunday, Eddie Howe was asked about Sven Botman who told the media; “I did not see him struggling. He came off and said his groin was tight. Fingers crossed it’s OK.”
Now on Tuesday, the Newcastle United boss has given an update on the Sven Botman injury situation:
“We didn’t think it was a serious injury and we have had that conformed with a scan.
“He won’t play tomorrow (against Team K-League all stars), but he could play against Tottenham on Sunday, but possibly not.
“We hope he will be available for the double header (at St James’ Park against Espanyol (8 August) and Atletico Madrid (9 August)”
Here’s hoping it is just one of those pre-season things that players often get, picking up knocks etc as they get back to full fitness.
Sven Botman has had rotten luck with injuries the past couple of years and as we all know, he’s a massive asset and class player when fully fit and playing regularly.
