Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has admitted there is ‘another dynamic’ at play in whether a wanted Magpies star exits the club this month.
Howe is expected to need to wheel and deal in the market if he is to bring fresh faces in as Newcastle look to stay on the right side of PSR rules.
He is keen not to sell big stars such as Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon, meaning fringe stars are more likely to go.
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is wanted by Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab and they are claimed to have an agreement in place with him.
In the absence of Nick Pope, Dubravka has been between the sticks recently for Newcastle and Howe, while insisting he would like to keep him, admits that the situation is not straightforward.
Hinting the goalkeeper could go, Howe told a press conference: “We would not want him to leave. But you have to respect the player’s wishes in this [situation which] is not as clear cut as everyone would necessarily have you think.
“He’s also out of contract in the summer so that adds another dynamic.
“But it’s all hypothetical.
“Martin has been outstanding since he came back in and I have a lot of respect for him.”
The shot-stopper is out of contract in the summer and could join Al Shabab on a free transfer if he waits.
