Ruben Dias is absent from the Manchester City travelling squad that has travelled to Burnley on Friday evening, as per sources in the run-up to kick-off.
Manchester City are back in action for another season where they will be aiming to defend their Premier League title, after claiming the last three English top-flight crowns in successive spectacular campaigns.
Pep Guardiola and his players travel to Burnley’s Turf Moor for the opening weekend of Premier League action, taking on Vincent Kompany’s impressive set-up that registered over 100 points in their title-winning campaign in the Championship last season.
The trip to Burnley will be Manchester City’s second competitive contest of the new season, having taken on Arsenal in the FA Community Shield last weekend, where they succumbed to a disappointing 4-1 penalty shoot-out defeat to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Ahead of the official release of the starting line-ups this evening, sources have began to report on Manchester City’s team news, with one confirmed name absentee named from the travelling party that have made the trip north from the Etihad.
According to X user FPL Maine Road, Manchester City will be without the presence of Ruben Dias in their defensive unit, after the Portugal international centre-back was left out of the named squad due to the Premier League’s concussion protocol.
Fortunately for Pep Guardiola and the Premier League champions, Dias’ problem is said to be not serious, meaning he is likely to be back in contention for Manchester City’s next Premier League game against Newcastle United next weekend.
Between then however, City take on Sevilla in Athens as they appear in the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in the club’s history, as a reward for claiming last season’s Champions League trophy in Istanbul.
In further information, according to The FPL Newsletter on X, both John Stones and Josko Gvardiol do not start for Pep Guardiola at Turf Moor, while Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne are included in the opening eleven.
Jack Grealish is another confirmed absentee from the starting line-up in the build-up to official release of the elevens, this according to Team news and ticks.
Vincent Kompany and Pep Guardiola are expected to confirm their respective starting line-ups at 19:00 BST.
