Paris Saint-Germain’s latest stance on the possibility of sanctioning Gianluigi Donnarumma’s sale to Manchester United has surfaced.

Donnarumma an option for United

United could look to overhaul their goalkeeping department this summer, amidst uncertainty over the futures of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Both shot-stoppers have struggled to impress since joining United in the summer of 2023 and the club are believed to be open to offloading them for the right price. As speculation over their roles under Ruben Amorim rumbles on, the Red Devils continue to be linked to a number of shot-stoppers, with Donnarumma being one of them.

Donnarumma was colossal for PSG last term as they won an incredible treble. The Italian produced a number of fine performances for the side, especially in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

The 26-year-old made 40 appearances across all competitions last term, keeping 11 clean sheets. He also turned out seven times for PSG in the Club World Cup and registered seven clean sheets in the tournament.

Yet, despite his standout displays, there is no clarity over what lies ahead for him in the French capital. His contract expires in 2026 and talks with PSG over fresh terms are currently deadlocked.

This uncertainty has attracted suitors, with United believed to be among the clubs keeping a close eye on the situation. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are “frontrunners” for Donnarumma and have even opened talks with PSG over a potential deal.

The Telegraph have confirmed that United are indeed interested in Donnarumma and even asked PSG about him earlier in the window.

PSG’s latest stance on Donnarumma to United

According to The Telegraph “[United] made an enquiry about Paris St-Germain and Italy No 1 Gianluigi Donnarumma earlier in the summer.”

“PSG are in the process of signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille and the European champions are thought to be braced for United renewing their interest in Donnarumma once that deal is complete.”

“Donnarumma, 26, has 12 months left on his contract and, while PSG are happy to keep him, it is thought they are open to selling if the right bid comes in.”

The ex-AC Milan goalkeeper is also thought to be on the radar of Chelsea, Manchester City, Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad.
