Manchester United’s unwanted striker Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly one step away from sealing his transfer to Napoli.

Following an abysmal campaign on all levels, the MUFC management was keen to bring in an upgrade on the Dane, and Benjamin Sesko proved to be the answer. Even though the Slovenian is still adjusting to his new surroundings in Carrington, Ruben Amorim has already dropped Hojlund from his plans, omitting him from the matchday squad in the first two rounds of the Premier League campaign.

Therefore, the writing is on the wall for the former Atalanta star who must now seal an exit in the final few days of the summer transfer session to avoid spending his campaign as an afterthought at Old Trafford.

Man United & Napoli reach €45m agreement on Rasmus Hojlund

In recent days, Napoli emerged as the frontrunners in the race for Hojlund. The Italian champions identified the 22-year-old as the right profile to replace Romelu Lukaku who will be out of action for several months.

On Tuesday morning, Italy’s most famous sports publication, La Gazzetta dello Sport, revealed that Man Utd and Napoli have already found an agreement, with the player pushing for the move.

As the pink newspaper explains, Hojlund will join the Partnepei on loan for €5 million, with an option to buy set at €40 million. This clause will turn into an obligation to buy under certain conditions related to the number of goals and appearances, in addition to the team’s qualification for next season’s edition of the Champions League.

Napoli & Hojlund negotiating personal terms

In Naples, the striker will find himself an ally in his former Man Utd teammate Scott McTominay. The two remain good friends, and the Scotland international has reportedly been acting as a ‘secret agent’ in the Hojlund affair.

But while the operation has reached an advanced stage, GdS reveals that Napoli and Hojlund’s representatives still have to sort out some details before reaching a definitive agreement, including resolving the issue related to the player’s image rights.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis famously insists on purchasing the image rights of every player he has under contract, a detail that sabotaged several transfers in the past.  Hence, it remains to be seen whether the two parties can successfully navigate this issue.
