FLW's Wrexham fan pundit believes Paul Mullin would excel if the stiker moves to Wigan Athletic

Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has recently been linked to Wigan Athletic, with his time at the Racecourse Ground seemingly over.
According to journalist Alan Nixon reporting via Patreon, Ryan Lowe’s side hold great interest in the 30-year-old and are trying to get a deal done this summer.
Nixon states that Mullin may be allowed to leave for nothing, which would allow clubs such as Wigan the opportunity to tackle his high wage demands.
The move would provide the forward with an ideal platform to get back to playing regular football, and in turn give Wigan a proven EFL talisman.
Football League World’s Wrexham fan pundit, Liam Grice, is disappointed to see Mullin leave, but understands the striker’s decision.
“Would I like to see Paul Mullin move on?” questioned Liam. “No, not really.
“I do think he still has a little bit to offer Wrexham. Losing him on a free would be a bit disheartening given everything he has done for the club, but if anybody deserves to have that fresh start after everything they've done for Wrexham, then it is Mullin.
“A Wigan move means he can stay closer to his family, which is the reason he moved to us in the first place.
“If he gets given a run of games in that Wigan side, he can certainly be their best striker without a doubt, but I would be quite sad to see Mullin go.
“He's on a lot of money, so a free transfer probably makes the most sense, but I would still be quite sad to see him go.”
After a season of diminishing returns, Mullin will be desperate to get back to playing regular football again.
The striker relishes the talismanic role he played at Wrexham, and could assume a similar position in Lowe’s side.
The Latics’ goalscoring record leaves much to be desired, and attack will no doubt be a key area of improvement outlined by Lowe. In fact, Wigan scored the fewest goals in the entirety of League One, netting just 40 times across the 46 league games.
As a result, Mullin could inject some firepower into an attack that has been sorely lacking. Just last season, the striker bagged 24 goals in 38 League Two appearances, highlighting his goalscoring prowess in the EFL, although he has not done it at League One level in his career, which could be a worry.
Wages could prove to be a sticking point in negotiations, with the 30-year-old believed to be commanding a weekly wage of £5,800, according to Salarysport.com and their estimates. However, Wrexham’s willingness to let the striker leave on a free may see the deal work out for both parties.
Time will tell where Mullin ends up, but a move to Brick Community Stadium could be the start of an exciting summer for the Latics.
