Chelsea are losing 1-0 to Newcastle after an early goal from the home team, and things got even worse after that.
Nicolas Jackson put his arm into the neck of Sven Botman, and was sent off after a VAR review.
On TNT Sport, their pundits Joe Cole and Peter Crouch agreed that, all things considered, it was a definite red.
“He can have no complaints… this angle here, he has a look, BANG, fore-arm smash to the face. It’s a sending off, it’s a silly thing to do, he gives the referee no choice,” said Cole
“I think if you’re looking at the ball the whole way there’s an argument that his arm is out to protect him, but the two looks at Botman just give the game away. It’s a definite red card,” Crouch added.

Of course, to compound things, a straight red means our only striker is now banned for the rest of the season too[. You can imagine the reaction online from fans and influencers, who have seen yet another immature, brainless decision from this young team cost them dearly.
Speaking on BBC 5Live, journalist Julien Laurens was even more blunt about the Senegal star’s brain fart on the biggest stage:
“If Chelsea don’t win today, knowing how important the game is, to let the team and the fans down in that way is a disgrace and unacceptable.”
We’re not sure why Chelsea winning the game should matter – Jackson did what he did, and shouldn’t be let off the hook even if his colleagues pull off a miracle and somehow get a win today.
