Noah Okafor seemed all set to fly to Germany and join RB Leipzig on an initial loan deal, but the operation is currently on stand-by.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano among others earlier in the week that Milan and Leipzig have agreed a loan deal for Okafor, with an option to buy that is set at €25-28m. The player was expected to do his medical and sign the contract on Friday.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Okafor-Leipzig deal ‘seemed destined for a positive conclusion’ but at the moment it is stuck. The Bundesliga club are no longer entirely convinced of completing the operation, and are also evaluating other profiles in the meantime.
It remains to be seen whether the situation will be unblocked in the coming days. Speaking live on Sky (via MilanNews), Di Marzio added: “Problems for Okafor to Leipzig, with the player still a bit injured: Leipzig have not pushed any further and the operation is a bit blocked.”
Having arrived in Italy in the summer of 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg, it seems as though the Swiss forward is no longer deemed a big part of the plans given the Rossoneri’s willingness to depart. No further information is given on his new injury.
