The details for City’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa have been confirmed.
Gareth Taylor’s secured our place in the last-eight of the historic competition with a 3-1 fifth round victory over Leicester City at the Joie Stadium before being paired with the Villans in the next round.
The Blues will now lock horns with Natalia Arroyo’s team for a place in the semi-final at home on Sunday 9 March at 12:30 (UK) and the encounter will be shown live on BBC One in the United Kingdom.
City are looking to lift the FA Cup for the fourth time in our illustrious history by winning the tournament this term, Aston Villa – meanwhile – are targeting their maiden triumph in the competition before the term’s end.
The tie at the Joie Stadium also represents the third time the teams will have locked horns this season following our respective wins over the Villans in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Taylor’s side first beat our FA Cup opponents 2-1 at home thanks to second-half goals from Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord after Gabi Nunes had given the visitors the lead before the break.
Our most recent meeting with Aston Villa produced a six-goal thriller at Villa Park as we collected three points with a 4-2 away win.
On that occasion, two strikes from Vivianne Miedema before half-time flipped the fixture on its head after Chasity Grant had broken the deadlock for the hosts in the sixth minute.
Villa equalised shortly after the interval before goals from Mary Fowler and Jess Park helped us triumph in January.
Tickets information for our latest meeting with Aston Villa will follow soon and the full Adobe Women’s FA Cup draw can be found below...
