Football League World have compiled all the latest news surrounding Derby County
Derby County are ramping up preparations for the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
John Eustace will be keen to reap the rewards of his shock decision to ditch play-off hopefuls Blackburn Rovers for relegation-threatened Derby, after keeping the Rams in the second-tier.
The 45-year-old moved to Pride Park on the premise that he would have a better chance of long-term success and this transfer window presents the first opportunity for the Derby boss to make changes to his squad.
The past few weeks have seen the Rams really step up their pursuit of multiple new additions, rapidly building excitement among the club’s fanbase ahead of next season.
With pre-season preparations on the horizon, Football League World have highlighted all the recent news surrounding Derby County.
Derby’s boss hasn’t been shy about approaching players he managed during his time at Blackburn, with Owen Beck the latest to meet that criteria.
According to Football Insider, the Rams are eyeing up the Liverpool full-back with Eustace keen to reunite with his former player.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Ewood Park and would be moving to Derby on another temporary deal.
Beck made 25 appearances for Rovers during the 2024/25 campaign, with a hamstring injury curtailing his progress in April.
With a year of second-tier experience under his belt, the Liverpool prospect could come on leaps and bounds back under Eustace’s leadership next term.
Derby embarked upon the summer window in search of a new striker, with top scorer Jerry Yates returning to Swansea City following the expiration of his loan deal.
According to John Percy of the Telegraph via X, the Rams have agreed a fee with Luton Town for Carlton Morris’ services.
The 29-year-old is set to complete his medical this week before the transfer is finalised, which would become Derby’s first of the window.
Although Luton suffered relegation last season, Morris has been one of the division’s most lethal operators in recent times, netting 42 goals in 145 Championship appearances.
The former Barnsley marksman scored 11 times for the Hatters during the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, highlighting the level of player Eustace and Co. are receiving.
In the same report from Percy, it was also stated that Blackburn Rovers duo Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth are also imminent arrivals at Pride Park.
Eustace was in charge of the pair during his time as Rovers’ boss and has convinced them to join him in his new post.
Football League World exclusively revealed that the pair had been offered contract extensions to remain in East Lancashire, but they are set to turn down that proposal.
These names aren’t likely to spark mass excitement among the Rams’ fanbase, but experience is a factor that can prove crucial throughout 46 Championship games.
Weimann will be returning to familiar surroundings, after scoring nine times in 88 appearances for Derby between 2014 and 2018.
Eustace clearly trusts the duo from his time at Blackburn and would provide the Rams with solid depth in multiple areas at a low cost.
