Departing Aston Villa defender Corsie to retire

The player publically announced her decision earlier this morning.
The 35-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a senior playing career that has spanned for almost two decades.
Corsie started out with Aberdeen back in 2006 before going on to feature for Glasgow City, Notts County, Seattle Reign, Utah Royals, Canberra United, Birmingham City, Kansas City Current and latest club Aston Villa.
The defender has spent the last four seasons with Aston Villa and she has made 44 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Corsie has also held the captain’s armband in her time at Villa Park. Corsie has struggled with a knee injury in recent times and her game time has been severely restricted.
On the international stage, Corsie has made 154 appearances for the Scottish national team in which she has scored 20 goals. Corsie has played a major role in the development of her national team during her 16-year international career.
With Corsie out of contract at Aston Villa this summer, the club recently confirmed her departure. The player has now revealed that she will hang up her boots after featuring for Scotland in their upcoming UEFA Women’s Nations League double-header against Austria and The Netherlands.
