Pau Victor became the latest player to leave Barcelona this summer, joining SC Braga in a permanent deal worth around €12 million.
Braga will pay an additional €3 million to Barcelona if the player meets certain performance criteria, though the move won’t free up much space for Barça in terms of Financial Fair Play margin.
Victor played for Barcelona only for a year, joining initially as part of Barça Atletic, but later featured in multiple games for the first team.
In light of his move to SC Braga, Victor has written a heartfelt note to all his Barcelona teammates and fans.
“Today marks the end of a chapter that has shaped my life. A chapter that has been much more than football: it has been a dream come true,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
The forward admitted how he always wanted to wear a Barcelona shirt despite hailing from Girona’s youth system.
“First with Barça Atlètic, then with the first team… but always with the same feeling: that of a kid who grew up dreaming of wearing this shirt,” he said.
Victor labelled his time in Catalonia as a dream come true and called Barça more than just a club.
“Defending this badge has been an immense honour, both at the Johan and at Montjuïc, always with the pride of being part of a unique club. Because Barça is not just a club. It’s a feeling that fills you, transforms you, and makes you better,” he said.
The former Girona striker went on to thank his teammates, coaches, club staff and fans for supporting him throughout the past season.
“Thank you to all the coaches, teammates, club staff, and fans who have accompanied me on this journey. I take with me friendships, values, lessons, and memories that I’ll carry with me forever,” he added.
Victor now shifts his focus to SC Braga, where he will play a pivotal role in attack under the guidance of former Manchester City assistant manager and Braga head coach, Carlos Vicens.
“Now I head toward new challenges, with my head held high and my heart full. With the same passion, the same commitment, and the eternal pride of having defended these colors, and a dream lived that will accompany me wherever I go,” he said about his new challenge.
“With all my gratitude, forever a Culer,” he concluded in an emotional Instagram post, which has already received comments from prominent Barça youth players such as Toni Fernandez, Noah Darvich and even Gerard Martin.
