Dumfries played 55 matches for club and country this season. He played 45 times for Inter, including in the Champions League final. In the week after that, Dumfries played twice more for the Dutch national team, in the World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Malta.

Even at the very beginning of the season, Dumfries was still active for Oranje, at the European Championship. The right-back has had a gruelling season, and there will be little time off as the fixtures keep on coming.

Inter will face CF Monterrey, Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate at the Club World Cup. The final of the Club World Cup is scheduled for the 13th of July, while the Serie A season starts again at the end of August. Inter begin their campaign against Torino.
