Johannes Spors believes retaining world-class teenagers should be Southampton's priority over commanding hefty transfer fees.

Recently, Southampton's key decision-maker Johannes Spors presented a genius idea to nurture the growth of young academy players. Obviously, the plan to give multiple playing surroundings to better aid adaptation challenges is decent but the club still needs to think about a crucial question mark.

Should the Saints view a majority of their prodigies as future assets or try to make profits at the very first opportunity? If this doesn't seem like a big deal, then every fan must recall Jayden Meghoma's out-of-the-box summer transfer.

He was given the nod in a few preseason outings which indicated that he will have more responsibilities coming along his way on top of the U21 duties. But Southampton were forced to change their stance at the eleventh hour and opted against doing any of the above.

If you don't know what happened next, Southampton accepted a £10m pay packet from Brentford and moved on from Meghoma.

Spors wants to avoid a repeat of Meghoma saga

Well, Southampton didn't had many choices left there but it can't be the excuse on every occasion. Instead, it's high time the Saints strengthened their transfer say when it comes to deciding the future of their wonderkids.

Optimistically, it seems that Spors is willing to ensure that Southampton's senior team gets to enjoy the hardwork done by their younger counterparts.
