Dealing with Conor Gallagher going to Atletico Madrid and not Newcastle United

I couldn’t get to sleep for ages last night and it wasn’t just the heat keeping me awake, I was thinking about how our erstwhile Mag commentator and sometimes contributor ‘Wor Lass 2’, was dealing with the news that Conor Gallagher of Chelsea has an impending move to Atletico Madrid.

‘Wor Lass’ had until recently been consistently championing Gallagher to make the move to St James’ Park. For one reason or another he was linked with a move to the North East in the national media for the last 18 months.

I never wanted this to happen and took satisfaction when Conor Gallagher was truly exposed as being awful at this summer’s Euros. A limited player ideally suited to Southgate’s mundane style of football.

Some Chelsea fans have been bemoaning the potential loss of the poor man’s Jimmy Bullard on national radio and various social media outlets.

They have also realised that they aren’t moving forward at the rate they would like. The bewildering Todd Boehly seems to be a constant thorn in their side, as they still lament the loss of previous sugar daddy Roman Abramovich. A reprehensible club deserves a reprehensible owner in my opinion.

Another midfielder on the books at United has never been a priority, with Sandro Tonali returning to the fold. We all know what is required.

The Toon have been looking sharp in pre-season. If our Rolls Royce Alexander Isak can stay fit, he is capable of winning the Golden Boot. Eddie Howe knows it and so do the fans.

That is why backup players are so important and that is why we are splashing out £10m (plus £5m potential add-ons) on young Sheffield United forward Will Osula.

Osula is 20 years old and has been with the Blades for six years. He is a Denmark under 21 international who can play centre forward or drift out wide.

I expect us to re-enter the transfer market on the team’s return from Japan and believe that bigger transfers are being lined up.

I recently mentioned the good vibrations I’m getting, especially when I’m out and about talking to fellow Toon fans.

The new season isn’t far away and we have everything to look forward to. That includes ‘Wor Lass’ in his French chateau.

‘Blue is the Colour’ though at Stamford Bridge these days and as I’ve been saying for a while, these are one of the Septic clubs that I expect United to finish above from now on.
