David Turnbull got his campaign up and running with two goals and a Man of the Match performance in the 4-2 home win over Ross County.
The midfielder was pleased to be in the starting XI for the opening Premiership fixture of the season, and also his contribution to the victory.
But he knows that the hard work he’s put in over pre-season will have to continue in order to stay in the team, particularly given the level of competition within the Celtic squad.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Turnbull said: “It was a good performance overall.
"I think there were a few spells in the game where all of us could have been tidier on the ball and kept the ball better, but it’s the first game so it’s good to get the result and we’ll kick on from here.
“In pre-season, I’ve just come in and tried to work as hard as I can and play as well as I can in the games with the opportunities I get, and so to get that reward with the start and the two goals along with that is a great feeling.
“Going into next week we just have to build on this performance. The competition is always there, there’s great strength in depth among the team, so it’s just a case of giving your all when you play.”
